Willington crash kills man from town

WILLINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Willington.

Troopers responded to the accident around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Route 32/River Road and Battye Road.

It's unclear why Fred Viets, 37, of Willington, who was driving a 2016 Ram Promaster 1500 truck for Juliano's Pools, crossed the truck over the double yellow line, hitting another Ram truck.

Viets was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second Ram truck was not seriously hurt but was hospitalized at Hartford Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
