The Auburn Tigers have one of the best defensive back classes in 2025.

Hugh Freeze & Co. have made the secondary a priority on the recruiting trail, nabbing some of the best prospects the 2024 and 2025 classes have had to offer. Currently, the Tigers have six different secondary players committed in their 2025 class - a class that currently ranks top five nationally.

According to On3's Hunter Shelton, the Tigers' defensive back class is one of the best in the country. Shelton recently ranked his top four 2025 DB classes and placed Auburn alongside, Ohio State, Georgia, and Oregon.

Here's what Shelton has to say about the Tigers' current group of defensive backs:

"Auburn’s Big Cat recruiting event at the end of July provided some major momentum on the recruiting trail, as the Tigers picked up commitments from Blake Woodby, a former Ohio State commit, and Anquon Fegans — among others — to round out the month. Eric Winters helped kick start the big summer run with his mid-June decision. The Tigers are the only team with multiple top-100 safeties committed this cycle.

Devin Williams was the first DB to join the class, doing so back in February. Donovan Starr and Dante Core have each seen their ranking rise ahead of the fall and round out a rock-solid quartet of corners in the mix for Wesley McGriff and the Tigers."

It's a major strength of one of Auburn's best recruiting classes of the modern era. The newest additions from 2024 combined with this class could form one of the Tigers' best secondary units they've ever had in the near future.
