Carolina Panthers cornerback Dane Jackson was taken off the field during Wednesday's practice after suffering a hamstring injury, according to a report from Joe Person of The Athletic. Head coach Dave Canales noted that Jackson is currently undergoing further medical evaluation after experiencing a tightening in his hamstring during one-on-one drills.

Jackson, 27, joined the Panthers earlier this year on a two-year contract worth $8.5 million. He was listed as a starting cornerback alongside Jaycee Horn on the team’s initial depth chart. With Carolina already dealing with limited depth in their secondary, Jackson’s injury could be a significant concern for the team moving forward.

Before joining the Panthers, Jackson spent four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, who drafted him in the seventh round (239th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft out of the University of Pittsburgh. During his time with Buffalo, Jackson played in 52 games, starting in 28, and recorded 152 tackles, three interceptions, 28 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. He started a career-high 14 games in 2022 but transitioned to a reserve role last season.

Jackson’s condition will be closely monitored in the coming days, given the potential impact on Carolina's defensive lineup.
