It’s a week of music, film, food, and art … who’s game?!?. It’s the 19th year for the Macon Film Festival and they’re kicking it off on Wednesday with a screening of Red Fever, a witty and entertaining feature documentary about the profound — yet hidden — Indigenous influence on Western culture and identity. The film follows Cree co-director Neil Diamond as he asks, “Why do they love us so much?” Diamond sets out on a journey to find out why stereotypical imagery of Native people is all over pop culture: revered, romanticized and appropriated for centuries. Red Fever uncovers the surprising truths buried in history that even most Native people don’t know about. A moderated Q&A will follow the screening.
