    Asking Eric: Do we need written rules after vacationing son, grandkids trashed our house?

    My kids n grandkids has always been eat and drink at dining room table.. toys put up .. it’s like a tornado when they come lol so we have games in n out side n put stuff up after.. when they were little it was fun to clean up .. my kids done it with there kids .. my parents did it with us .. I don’t know why but the dinning room table was always the center of visits ..

    Oh hell yeah you do. In fact you should have set a few rules before they arrived so they'd have an idea of what you expect from from anyone visiting...nothing major but ask to clean up after themselves, say what time meals are, no loud music ot TV after a certain time. Basic niceties and common courtesy/respect. It doesn't sound like your son was raised in a slovenly, messy home and he and his family shouldn't treat your home like just an another pigsty. Definitely set rules if you can tolerate them visiting you again. Lots of luck.
