My grandmother downsized when my grandfather died, and continued to pare down her possessions. When she passed away at 94, it took two days for my aunt and cousin to clean out her apartment. This is what I plan to do so as not to burden my kids.My husband’s parent were Depression-era and hoarded, and many of his siblings are the same way. Paths in their houses, stacks of magazines and books, etc. Settling their estates will be a nightmare when they go, I feel sorry for their children.
