Knicks Fans Reunite with Playoff Savior

    By Lance Roberson,

Typically, you don't remember a player grabbing a rebound, unless it's in Miami Heat Chris Bosh in the NBA Finals. However, Isaiah Hartenstein became a local hero following his clutch offensive rebound in Game 2 of the first round vs. the Philadelphia 76ers. New York Knicks fans have their opportunity to communicate their salutations for a former beloved fan-favorite, or boo to their heart's content.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, Hartenstein will compete in Madison Square Garden on Jan. 10.

Hartenstein averaged 8.5 point, 7.8 rebounds in 13 games for the Knicks' 2024 playoff campaign.

Although Hartenstein layed a significant role in beefing up the Knicks frontcourt, the Oregon native will become a focal point in solidifying the Oklahoma City Thunder's center depth chart. The former Knicks center  signed a three-year deal, for $87 million, with a team option on the final year to backup future NBA star Chet Holmgren.

During the 2024 playoffs, it became apprarent the Thunder required attention to their frontcourt, and it only took witnessing the Dallas Mavericks bigs change the series. Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford bothered Holmgren with their size and athletic ability.

Hartenstein, although won't single-handedly change series, will provide a cushion for the slimmer Holmgren.

While it pains the Knicks to see Hartenstein leave, Leon Rose didn't allow the fan base to wallow in self pity. New York's front office moves stand out as arguably the best of the offside aside from the 76ers. The Knicks seek another high-seed finish, and this time around, an NBA Finals berth doesn't seem as lofty.
