LOGAN — The Olde Dutch Restaurant held a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon to commemorate the local hub’s 30th anniversary.

“We are thrilled to be apart of this community, and honored to continue the tradition of this restaurant as a gathering place in the area,” said Adam Wetzel, owner of the restaurant.

Wetzel is part of the third ownership group to take over the Olde Dutch since its founding in 1994 by Keith Fox and others.

As part of the celebrations, Wetzel also unveiled a new logo for the restaurant, leaving behind the old horse and buggy for a more Hocking Hills-themed look — “new branding that reflects the area’s rich history,” Wetzel said.

The owner called it a “challenge to live up to the expectations” set by previous ownership. “We’re not here to reinvent the wheel, but polish off some things, keep them running as well as they’ve been,” he said.

Michael Sayre, the general manager of the Olde Dutch, added on to that sentiment, and told the Logan Daily News of the importance of keeping local business alive and thriving: to “keep the big corporations out of here,” he remarked.
