Michael Rubin found himself in the hot seat this week following his appearance on The Breakfast Club, where he made comments about the Black community that sparked controversy.

As we previously reported, the CEO of Fanatics called out the negativity directed towards individuals within the community, specifically defending Philadelphia rappers Meek Mill and Lil Baby against derogatory remarks, including jokes about their sexuality.

Rubin expressed his concerns, stating, “It’s the one thing I’ve learned about Black culture that I don’t like is that Black hate on hate.” He elaborated on this during his discussion with Charlamagne Tha God, questioning why some individuals feel the need to bring others down. He cited specific instances, including a Black judge who he felt was overly harsh on Meek Mill, as examples of this negativity. Now, while some resonated with Rubin’s perspective, others felt it was inappropriate for him to comment on Black culture.

Rapper ScHool Boy Q called him out on social media saying, “NO SUCH THING AS BLACK ON BLACK ANYTHING WTF.”

After receiving feedback from friends in the wake of the backlash, Rubin acknowledged that it wasn’t his place to speak. In a follow-up statement, he said:

“I got a phone call from someone I respect greatly who told me that, while they appreciate my intentions, it’s not my place to speak on Black culture. I understand and appreciate the input! My intention was to emphasize the importance of uplifting one another, stopping the hate, and supporting each other’s success. My apologies, and much love to everyone for the feedback @breakfastclubam @djenvy @cthagod @LorenLorosa.”

Sometimes things are right even if the wrong person says it. It's an observation shared by many. Just a classic case of kill the messenger. Dude, you're gonna be alright!!!!

He's not lying. why are you mad because he's white. That's the problem you don't want other races to commit on it, but you don't do anything to fix it. Black people don't want to stick together. Until we do, we are always going to be at the bottom
