    Let's Make Hungarian Goulash!

Hey there, foodie friends! Today we're going to learn how to make Hungarian goulash. But first, what exactly is Hungarian goulash?

    What is Hungarian goulash?

Hungarian goulash is a traditional stew that originated in Hungary. It's made with stew meat, root vegetables, and lots of delicious spices. The key ingredient that gives Hungarian goulash its unique flavor is Hungarian paprika, a type of spice made from dried peppers.

When seeking Hungarian paprika, be sure to choose a variety made from Hungarian peppers and clearly labeled as such. This will guarantee that you are receiving the genuine flavor and superior quality that Hungarian paprika is renowned for.

    Ingredients:

    • 2 pounds of beef stew meat
    • 2 onions, chopped
    • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
    • 1 teaspoon of ground caraway seeds
    • 1 teaspoon of oregano
    • 3 to 4 tablespoons of sweet Hungarian paprika
    • 4 cups of beef broth
    • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
    • 4 potatoes, coarsely chopped
    • 2 cups of carrots, sliced or diced
    • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

    Instructions:

Chop up your onions and garlic. Cut the beef stew meat into bite-sized pieces. Peel and dice your potatoes, and slice or dice the carrots.

Heat some oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the beef stew meat and brown on all sides.

Add the chopped onions and garlic to the pot with the meat. Cook until the onions are soft.

Stir in the sweet Hungarian paprika, ground caraway seeds, oregano, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Cook for another minute to let the flavors blend together.

Pour in the beef broth and add the tomato paste. Stir well to combine.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for about one and a half hours, or until the meat is tender.

Add the potatoes and carrots to the pot and continue to simmer for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until the root vegetables are cooked through.

Serve your Hungarian Goulash hot and enjoy this hearty, comforting meal!
