Los Angeles & Houston Based Cos. Buy FL's Hyatt Regency Orlando For $1.02 Billion or $622K Per Room

Some Floridians know that Florida has plenty of massive hotels that sometimes serve as convention sites such as The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort and Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel, as a few examples. Another hotel in this genre - the Hyatt Regency Orlando - just sold for the hefty sum of $1.02 billion.

About Hyatt Regency Orlando: This resort serves several purposes for Floridians as it is close to theme parks and attractions, but it is also one of the region's largest convention hotels.

Patrons and visitors give the facility 4.6 out of 5 stars for a hotel which starts at around $104 per night. Many mention the beauty of the resort and the customer service. A reviewer named Dave wrote:

"A great gem for conventions or a short drive to all the parks. The hotel is clean, full of life, and very relaxing. It is my usual stop whenever I am in the Orlando area. The bar has great cocktails and the rooms are quiet. The Club also has a good selection of finger foods. There are multiple pools, so be sure to ask where the 'hidden pool' is if you want to do laps away from children playing."

The Recent Sale: Los Angeles-based Ares Management and Houston-based Rida Development purchased the resort for $1.02 billion in August of 2024. This amounts to $622,000 per room, which makes this purchase the second-highest rate per room paid in recent times (the highest was for the Four Seasons.)

Hyatt paid $117 million for the hotel in 2016, meaning that the company made a profit on the sale.
