( NewsNation ) — A heroic police officer who saved a woman’s life after he found her unconscious in a partially submerged vehicle revealed she is on track to make a return to full health.

Officer Chuck Cobb joined “ Morning in America ” to discuss how he came to save the woman who had driven into a pond in West Orange, Texas, about 110 miles east of Houston.

Newly released body camera footage shows Cobb was alerted to the danger by a young child running down a highway. Then, he dove into the water, dragging the unconscious woman to land before performing successful CPR.

“As soon as we got her out, didn’t feel a pulse,” Cobb said. “There was no breathing, and I didn’t know how long she had been in the water, so I immediately started chest compressions and just kept going. It was, I think, about three minutes before she finally took a gasp of air.

Did Matthew Perry’s celebrity status lead to tougher charges?

Following the rescue, Cobb found gratitude in God for allowing him to assist the woman in need.

“I was talking with my wife about it, and I just thank God that he put me in the right place at the right time,” Cobb said. “Usually when things happen, somebody sees it, they have to call 911, they’ve got to get the information, dispatch us, and maybe two- to five-minute response time. Had that happened here, I think it would have been a tragic outcome.”

The woman, who has not been publicly identified, reunited with Cobb after he visited her in the hospital Thursday.

“It looks like she is going to make (a) 100% recovery,” Cobb said. “She’s talking, she’s off the ventilator. Think today they’re going to try and move her out of ICU. And I spoke with her yesterday. She is literally a breathing, living miracle.”
