The Young and the Restless: Summer Jealousy Pushes Audra and Nate into a Fake Engagement Plot

On The Young and the Restless, Summer’s protective instincts towards Harrison have led to heated custody battles with Kyle, but her real motivation may run deeper than just concern for the boy. Phyllis has raised suspicions that Summer’s actions could be rooted in jealousy, and although Summer denies it, there may be some truth to her mother’s theory.

Summer’s Jealousy Over Audra

Summer is committed to preventing Harrison from coming into contact with Audra and her harmful influence. Throughout their entire custody battle with Kyle, Summer has made that a major theme. Phyllis is quite familiar with her daughter, though, and she believes Summer may be a little envious of Kyle's success. Although Summer refuted this in the August 16 episode, Phyllis' concerns might not be entirely unfounded.

Since Summer does not even know Harrison or give a damn that he exists, it never makes sense for her to have tantrums about Audra. It is possible that Summer's order to cut Audra loose had more to do with keeping her out of Kyle's bed than anything else. There may be a simple solution if Summer's jealousy of Audra is the true cause of this custody dispute.

Maybe Audra can demonstrate that she has moved on and found someone else, someone like Nate, who is the answer in this situation. Though Summer is unaware of it, Audra and Nate are not formally dating. There is a chance for a scheme here because Summer actually knows nothing about Audra's private life. It's unlikely that Audra's new partner would persuade Summer to put aside her worries.

A Fake Engagement Between Audra and Nate?

If Summer doesn't see a genuine indication of commitment, she might think of Nate as just another flavor of the month. For this reason, it would be intriguing if Nate and Audra staged a proposal. Given that Audra had previously been so opposed to marriage, it would fit the plot in a lighthearted and humorous way.

Naturally, Nate may also use this as an opportunity to win Audra over and persuade her to wed him in the future. Although Audra believes that Summer is Kyle's concern right now, Victor might think differently and insist that Audra assist him. Victor might tell Kyle and Audra to work together to find a solution if they wish to continue serving as Glissade's co-CEOs.

If Nate is forced to act like Audra's fiancé by Kyle, he can become involved in the drama. In return, Audra and Kyle might finally be able to verify that Victor is the real investor behind the scenes. In any event, our Y&R predictions suggest that Kyle would need to rely on Nate and Audra as allies, which could mean that they manage to fool Summer into believing they are happily engaged!
