Iowa State projected to land in Texas Bowl against former Big 12 foe

It's never too early to take a guess at where Big 12 Conference teams might land when college football bowl season rolls around in December, and the Big 12 could have over half of its teams in the mix in the postseason.

CBS Sports did a projection of the entire College Football Playoff and every bowl game that includes Iowa State facing former Big 12 foe Oklahoma in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 31.

CBS had 10 of 16 teams from the Big 12 in the postseason, including Utah and Kansas State in the CFP.

Iowa State finished 7-6 in 2023 and lost to Memphis in the Liberty Bowl. The Cyclones haven't won a bowl game since current San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy led them to a win over Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl in Jan. 2021.
