Merced police arrest two in connection with fatal shooting

MERCED, California — A fatal shooting in Merced has led to the arrest of two suspects, according to the Merced Police Department.On August 13, 2024, at approximately 7:11 PM, Merced Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 12th and G Street. Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite medical aid rendered at the scene, the victim was pronounced deceased.Shortly after, officers received a call from Mercy Medical Center about a second gunshot wound victim arriving at the hospital. Detectives identified the victim as Jeffrey Salery, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Upon investigation, it was determined that the incidents were related.After speaking with witnesses, Salery was arrested and booked into Merced County Jail for homicide and firearms violations.
