Three Miami Dolphins who took another step in securing their jobs in preseason win over Washington Commanders

The Miami Dolphins defeated the Washington Commanders 13-6 in the teams' second preseason game on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

It was a game that saw a number of starters get their first action of the season, including QB Tua Tagovailoa .  However, as usual, there were a number of players further down the roster who were fighting for places on the Dolphins' final 53-man roster. A number of them showed out and gave Mike McDaniel and his staff plenty to think about.

Here are three Dolphins who took big steps towards securing roster spots.

Erik Ezukanma

Ezukanma was the Dolphins' leading receiver on the night.  He pulled in five of seven targets for 65 yards, including a 35-yard catch in the third quarter.  Ezukanma, who missed most of last season with a neck injury, really needed to step up and show what he could do, given the deep and talented wide receiver room.

With Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Odell Beckham, Jr., and River Cracraft all roster locks (and Braxton Berrios and Malik Washington also strongly in the fold), Ezukanma needed to remind everyone that he's still the same guy who turned heads last preseason.  He largely did that on Saturday night.

Cam Smith

There wasn't all that much question about whether Smith should be on the roster, even after However, after the last two weeks he's appeared to have locked up his roster spot. Aside from one missed tackle against Terry McLaurin, Smith put forth a strong performance, with an impressive deep pass break up highlighting his tape for the day.

Smith unfortunately suffered a hamstring injury in the second half.  Provided it's not too serious, he's put himself in position to be the first cornerback off the bench for the Dolphins.

Jack Driscoll

The former Philadelphia Eagle is carving out a role for himself as, at worst, perhaps the Dolphins' top interior offensive line reserve option, and he might be establishing himself as the top's best starting option at right guard.  He showed his prowess in the run game Saturday night by manhandling his defender on Chris Brooks' 59-yard run.

That's something that the Dolphins, who've struggled to find strong interior line options this offseason, just can't let get away.
