Popular Florida Eatery Quarterdeck Bar And Grill Shut Down After State Inspection

Many Floridians have their favorite place to go out and unwind on weekends. Plenty of bars and grills in Florida are family-friendly and have stepped up their culinary game. Unfortunately, one restaurant in this genre - Plantation's Quarterdeck Bar and Grill - was recently temporarily shut down after a state inspection.

About The Quarterdeck Bar and Grill: This is actually a chain in South Florida that started in the 1980s. Today, there are six locations. They offer classic bar fare with specials such as wing Wednesdays and Philly Cheesesteak Mondays.

Plantation patrons have reviewed the location at 12310 W Sunrise Boulevard over 2,300 times and give it 4.3 out of 5 stars. Many praise the fun atmosphere. A reviewer named Dawn wrote, in part:

"Great atmosphere. Found this little spot after a great Panthers win. Wait time was not very long, drinks came out, and we got our appetizers quickly. Onion rings came out hot and crunchy...The fajitas were great. Will definitely be back after some more wins!"

What Happened At Inspection?: According to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, an inspection occurred on August 5, 2024. At that time, 6 violations were noted.

Examples of basic violations were no covered waste receptacle in the women's bathroom and no handwashing sign above the employee handwash sink

High-priority violations came from the observation of live roaches, raw shrimp being stored over sweet potatoes, raw salmon stored over whiskey-squared ice, and chicken breast being held at over 41 degrees.

Because of some of the above violations, the restaurant was temporarily shut down. At a follow-up inspection on August 6, 2024, two violations remained. Neither was an immediate threat to the public so the restaurant "met inspection standards" and was free to reopen.

Please note that an inspection is one moment in time and not necessarily how a restaurant conducts itself every day.
