Vols athletic director Danny White leaves the door open for a couple of fan favorite traditions to return to Tennessee

Tennessee Vols athletic director Danny White has become an extremely popular figure in East Tennessee in large part because he's willing to listen to suggestions from fans.

That doesn't mean that White obliges every request he sees from fans, but he will when it makes sense (like when he returned the V-O-L-S letters to the top of Neyland Stadium).

White joined The Nation with VolQuest's Austin Price and ESPN's Chris Low on Sunday and he left the door open for a couple of fan favorite traditions to return to Tennessee.

"My Twitter feed can sometimes be amusing," said White. "But our fans are vocal, they're passionate -- I love our fan base. I've said it a bunch, I think we have the best fan base in all of sports, not just college sports. And the memories they have, that's what makes the Neyland name special. It's obviously General Neyland and who he was as a coach, and a leader, and a visionary. But it's the fans in that building and the memories they have through the decades that make it special and made it something that's irreplaceable. So we'll keep looking ways for ways to honor that and celebrate that."

Price then specifically asked if there's a chance that the beer barrel (from the Kentucky rivalry) or both teams wearing home uniforms for the Tennessee/Alabama game could eventually return.

"I wouldn't rule anything out," said White. "We're going to constantly listen to the fans. I like the fact that they voice their opinions. And [we'll] make the best decisions as we move forward."

The beer barrel hasn't been featured in the Kentucky/Tennessee rivalry since the 1997 season.

As for both teams wearing home jerseys in the Tennessee/Alabama rivalry, that's something that last happened in 1970.

In 2009, the SEC approved Tennessee's request to wear orange jerseys in Tuscaloosa, but they were required to get permission from Alabama.

The Crimson Tide denied the request. Tennessee could've still worn the orange jerseys, but they would've been hit with a 15 yard penalty to begin the game, something that then head Vols head coach Lane Kiffin didn't see as an option .
