Insider Says Warriors Are 'Plotting' Moves to Make a Splash Trade

The Golden State Warriors are gearing up for the new season with a renewed sense of purpose following a disappointing stint last year.

They finished the regular season with a 46-36 record and lost to the Sacramento Kings in the Play-In Tournament, raising questions about their aging core led by Stephen Curry and Draymond Green and future prospects.

With beloved guard Klay Thompson now with the Dallas Mavericks, it truly feels like a new era for the Warriors. The team, however, didn't make big-time transactions in the offseason, acquiring role players Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson and De'Anthony Melton to shore up the roster.

But according to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Warriors are already priming up for their next bold move.

“Golden State is plotting its next moves in the wake of unsuccessful trade pursuits of Paul George and Lauri Markkanen in the offseason,” wrote Stein on his Substack, as quoted by NBC Sports Bay Area's Andy Lindquist .

“Team officials believe they remain well-positioned for a trade upgrade at some point in the next year or so."

While Stein didn't specify any names as targets, he noted that the Warriors' draft picks could be enticing for other teams. They also have promising assets in Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody.

Reports surfaced recently that the Warriors tried to get Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James last season. But his agent, Rich Paul, allegedly shot it down to avoid "backlash" from fans.

The Warriors have a history of making big moves, most notably trading for Kevin Durant in 2016, and based on Stein's report, they could once again pull the trigger soon.
