Injury Update: Multiple Bills To Miss Time, Allen & Starters to Sit in Finale

    2024-08-19

The Buffalo Bills' injury luck continues to worsen as the 2024 NFL regular-season inches closer. The team has just revealed that impact players on both sides of the ball will be missing extended time with injuries.

The Bills announced Monday that quarterback Mitch Trubisky (knee), wide receiver Marquez Valdez-Scantling (neck), and tight end Quintin Morris (shoulder) will all miss multiple weeks with their respective injuries. All three injuries were sustained in the team's preseason win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday.

Additionally, the team announced that some potential starters will miss time. Wide receiver Curtis Samuel (turf toe), and safety Damar Hamlin (hamstring) are being considered week-to-week as they recover from their injuries.

Head coach Sean McDermott declined to rule out any of the injured players for the start of the regular season.

Despite all of the injury announcements, the team did also provide some positive updates for past injuries. Safeties Mike Edwards and Cole Bishop, along with linebacker Nicholas Morrow, are expected to begin individual drills this week as they work their way back from their injuries.

In the end, the Bills are also deciding that QB Josh Allen and the first-teamers will not play in this weekend's preseason finale.

These injuries are a huge blow to a Bills team that is looking to compete for a Super Bowl in 2024. Most, if not all, of the newly-injured players were expected to be on the 53-man roster when the regular-season begins. Now, the team will have their final preseason game, as well as free agency, to look for players that will seize the opportunity and potentially win spots on the roster.
