Lake Mills gets new nail salon

LAKE MILLS — A new nail salon just opened in Lake Mills, and owner Macaria Guillén has big plans for her salon, Maguist.

Guillén, who has been thinking about opening a nail business for about a year, came from a hair salon in Madison and wanted to be closer to her home in Jefferson. She heard about the building opening up for rent two months ago, and decided to go for it.

She said her philosophy was “let’s just jump on it, because if I don’t now, then when?”

Guillén said she has felt a sense of community support. She said she is “grateful to the community and everything because they’ve been really supportive.”

Already, Guillén said she is booked with customers, which she is “really happy about.”

Guillén is hoping to expand to offer a hairstylist and makeup artist. Furthermore, right now, she is the only nail tech, and she hopes to get one more to help. It’s her first business she has owned herself and Guillén said she is nervous, but really excited.
