The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Cleveland Browns on Saturday by a score of 27-12. They were able to control the game from the second quarter on and the performances from the Vikings were crucial to determining the 53-man roster .

Pro Football Focus released their grades from the game and they left some interesting impressions.

Ed Ingram was unfairly graded abysmal

When watching the game against the Browns, I thought Ingram played pretty well. He was moving defenders with ease, which he should be able to do considering he was playing against the second team. What didn't match the film was his grades.

PFF graded Ingram out incredibly poor.

    • 39.2 overall grade
    • 45.8 run blocking grade
    • 23.3 pass blocking grade

That doesn't match the film, as Ingram did a really good job protecting the quarterback. His only poor play from my eye was the missed stunt pickup on his final play and it was one that PFF didn't even knock him for as David Quessenberry was charged with allowing the sack.

Michael Jurgens was fairly graded abysmal

Jurgens was pretty solid against the Las Vegas Raiders in the first week of the preseason. The moment didn't look too big for him and he was comfortable at both guard and center. That was significantly different on Saturday against the Browns.

It was rough for Jurgens when it came to pass blocking. Run blocking was fine at 71.1 and he was able to move defenders, especially in zone concepts. Pass blocking was reminiscent of Garrett Bradbury's 0.0 grades with a grade at 10.8. It's not a great look for the seventh-round pick who was hoping to earn a roster spot. The one good thing for Jurgens is Dalton Risner is still out and the former is less expensive.

    Taki Taimani shines

In a defensive line room that is not very deep, there are opportunities for other players to take a step forward and make an impact. The depth players on the defensive line have stood out in a big way and we saw another instance of it on Satuday.

The Vikings gave Taimani $95k in guaranteed money and he is delivering solid performance worthy of that money. Taimani racked up an overall grade of 91.5 over 27 snaps with a run defense grade of 87.8. He thrived on the line for the Vikings nad made some noise to get a roster spot.

    Lewis Cine breaks out

Understanding the breakout of Cine on Saturday afternoon is a very complicated question. A first-round pick who only plays 10 defensive snaps in his first two seasons is brutal. It's one of the many reasons, including the Vikings playing three safeties regularly.

The difficult part for Cine was the compound fracture he suffered in his leg during the week four game against the New Orleans Saints during his rookie season of 2022. An injury like that could debilitate an average human and Cine played in the NFL the following year.

Was his late development due to the leg injury? It could be a major factor and now that Cine is two years removed, he is making major strides. Cine played all 64 snaps and he finished with an overall grade of 79.5 with his lowest grade being in tackling at 67.5. His progression will be monitored closely.
