I am a Holistic Practitioner and I'm going to tell you the easiest way to get sleep with PTSD which is something my daughter and I both have except she has CPTSD. We use it. You have to start taking an herb called Ashwagandha. It levels out all hormones in the body including melatonin and it cuts cortisol levels which is the stress hormone that is what your body utilizes in the morning to wake you up and keep you up during the day. Once you level that out you can sleep. undeniably when the cortisol levels High your literally going to have insomnia on a continuing basis and when you are able to get to sleep you won't go into deep sleep hardly at all you'll be staying in REM and light sleep.
