Haiden Deegan, the rising star of motocross, added another milestone to his young career by clinching the 2024 250MX Pro Motocross Championship at Budds Creek. At just 18 years old, Deegan has already established himself as a dominant force in the sport, riding for the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team. This latest title adds to his impressive resume, making him a two-time champion after winning the inaugural SuperMotocross World Championship in his freshman year in 2023.

Deegan’s journey to the 2024 250MX title was nothing short of remarkable. Throughout the Pro Motocross Championship, he secured five overall victories and consistently showcased his talent by finishing on the podium in every round, with just one round remaining. Let's not forget the multiple come-from-behind rides throughout the season.

Reflecting on his season, Deegan expressed his gratitude and determination during the post-race press conference. "It's been a long season, a lot of work," he said. "This MX title is nothing but easy. I had to put a lot of work in to get this position—a lot of work from the team, my family, the support from the fans motivating me, the non-supporters motivating me, and just everyone, honestly. It was a huge aspect to get me to this point."

At Budds Creek, Deegan dominated the first moto, "I just wanted to make a statement in that first moto. That's all I cared about. I wanted to see how far I could get a lead," he said. Despite a small mistake that cost him some time, Deegan’s performance left no doubt about his capability. In the second Moto, after a challenging start, his focus shifted towards the bigger picture. "I was just like... I honestly just want to hold the title up on the podium," he admitted.

Looking ahead, Deegan is already preparing for the upcoming SuperMotocross (SMX) series, where he will defend his SMX title. "It's time to get on some Supercross hybrid tracks and start getting prepped for the SMX title," he stated. Despite his youth, Deegan's maturity and strategic approach to his career are evident. "I'm not going to move up to the 450 without a (250) Supercross title, so we’ve got to get those goals knocked off first."

With his fearless riding style and relentless pursuit of success, Haiden Deegan is not only a champion today but also a future legend in the making as he continues to push the boundaries of the sport. Either love him or hate him, you can't knock the talent and work that has to be put in, week in and week out, to be a champion in Pro Motocross. We in the media and fans, perhaps some competitors, are left wondering how high this young star can soar.
