The Least Used Amtrak Station in Indiana As Of 2023

    2024-08-22

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Amtrak ridership in Indiana reached a total of 84,831 passengers during Fiscal Year 2023, with trains serving ten stations across the state.

According to Amtrak, Amtrak operates up to nine trains per day in Indiana, including the long-distance Capitol Limited and Cardinal routes, as well as the state-supported Wolverine service.

According to Amtrak, Indianapolis saw the highest ridership in the state, with 18,466 passengers, followed closely by South Bend, which served 19,481 travelers. Other stations with significant ridership include Waterloo with 17,411 passengers and Elkhart with 16,071 passengers.

However, not all stations were equally busy. The Rensselaer station recorded the lowest ridership in the state, with just 509 passengers for the entire fiscal year. Similarly, Connersville had only 528 passengers, making it one of the least used stations in Indiana, according to Amtrak.

Amtrak’s service continues to be an essential mode of transportation in Indiana, connecting residents to major cities across the Midwest and beyond.

Despite challenges such as on-time performance issues, the network remains a critical link for Indiana’s rail travelers.

I wish they still had the train car ride thing to Florida where you could hop on the train and have your car loaded as well.
