Dead zone caused from agricultural fertilizer (nitrogen and phosphates)running off into our creeks and rivers that's emptying into the gulf. Nothing new, it's been that way for years. Think of all the other nasty stuff we put in our rivers and streams like pesticides, weed killer, petroleum runoff from our roads and highways, liquid industrial waste products, etc... They say that by 2050 there will be more plastic bottles in our oceans than fish.
