I would never go with hardwood floors. My brother in law had it in his home & it were a mess. It was a new home when they moved in, but two separate small water incidents required ripping out whole sections. Then there's two big dogs that left dents from their nails all over the floor. Last was the damage from my sister in law's high heels. We put in honey oak colored laminate in our entire 1000sq ft downstairs. 22 years later when we sold the house, there were only two small dents where heavy glass canisters had fallen. You had to have the lights on and be looking at a certain angle to see them. The rest of the floor looked great, even in the kitchen and downstairs full bathroom with double shower. You would think they were less than 5 years old. We're shopping floors for our current home and I'll stick with either laminate or LVP. Easier on my older joints, easy to clean, durable and looks nice.
