A familiar tune could be heard from far away as practice raged at the Allen Reeves Football Complex on Tuesday.

For nearly all of the latter part of football practice, the Georgia Fight Song, known to some as “Glory, Glory,” could be heard on repeat as the Clemson team practiced hard inside the facility.

Conversation inside the media room was difficult, as the volume was so loud as to replicate real-time circumstances. From the outside, it sounded like the Georgia band was playing in the facility.

In a post-practice interview, Clemson linebacker Barrett Carter answered questions about the condition and mentality of the defense and the team, first answering on the preparation for top-ranked Georgia.

“I think it’s going to be good for us to get the idea in our heads because that is something they do over there,” Carter said. “It shouldn’t affect how we play. The field is always going to be the same size, we’re playing with the same football, and we’re going to be running the same plays.”

In a game against the top-ranked program in the country heading into the 2024 season, which is deemed a neutral site game, the Tigers are preparing as if they were travelling all the way to Athens, Ga. With the game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, it very well may seem like an away game for Clemson. Fortunately for the Tigers, they are staying prepared.

When asked if they can beat Georgia with the team they have, Carter responded confidently.

“One hundred percent,” he said. “We have the dudes in the locker room to compete with anybody in the country. Obviously, Georgia, they’ve been the top team in the country the past couple years, and until someone beats the best, they’re going to be proclaimed as the best.”

A definite challenge will be presented for the Tigers on Aug. 31, as they face the Bulldogs in their home state. Carter expressed, however, they are dialed in and will continue to focus on the Bulldogs.

“I’m excited to really shift my attention towards Georgia and dial in on our game plans and get to learn these guys even more.”
