WILTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Wilton Police are out with the story of a daring rescue during last Sunday's severe rainfall and flooding in Western Connecticut.

A CT Transit bus became stranded across Seeley Road while attempting to turn around from flood waters near the Seeley Road Railroad Crossing, which was further blocked by malfunctioning crossing gates that were stuck in the down position.

Approximately 30 passengers were on the bus and had to disembark into the water that was flooding to get out of the area.

Two police officers and a mother and son duo, who live on Seeley Road, helped to shuttle all of the passengers and bus driver to the Cannondale Train Station where they got onto a second bus.

The Wilton Police Department, in a written statement, thanks residents, the two good Samaritans, and police officers who helped their "...fellow humans during this unprecedented event."
