Summer Salute is Friday and Saturday in downtown Hopkinsville

Hopkinsville’s Summer Salute, a downtown festival featuring live music, food trucks, a beer garden, product vendors and children’s activities, will run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23-24, along East Ninth and Bethel streets.

The music shows are free to attend and begin at 6 both nights on a stage in front of the Christian County Justice Center, said organizers with the Division of Parks and Recreation.

The Jimmy Church Band, a group that has played at Hopkinsville events for more than 30 years, is the main entertainment on Friday. The group plays Motown, pop and rock ’n roll.

Saturday’s headline act is contemporary country music band Parmalee, perhaps best known for “Take My Name,” Billboard’s most played country song of 2022.

Dozens of food trucks will line Ninth Street from Founders Square up to the Justice Center. The Kid Zone, also free, will have bounce houses, games and obstacle courses.

Serving in the beer garden will be Hopkinsville Brewing Co., M.B. Roland and Casey Jones Distillery. Another vendor will sell Michelob Ultra and Bud Light in classic bottles.

The festival will affect downtown traffic beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday and continuing through 4 a.m. Sunday. During that stretch, Ninth Street will be closed from South Main to Seventh Street, and Bethel Street will be closed from Seventh to 10th Street.
