OKLAHOMA CITY Oklahoma City Ballet will host its fifth annual Ballet Under the Stars on Friday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m. at Scissortail Park’s Love’s Travel Stops Stage & Great Lawn.

This free event features performances by Oklahoma City Ballet’s professional dancers, OU School of Dance students and students from the Yvonne Chouteau School. The evening will include excerpts from classical ballet and modern dance, making it a unique showcase of talent.

Presented by Express Employment International, Arvest Bank and OK Let’s Dance, Ballet Under the Stars is a community-focused event with family-friendly activities starting at 5:30 p.m., including dancer warm-ups, photo ops and a dance class for all ages at 6:30 p.m.

"Oklahoma City Ballet wants to make ballet accessible to our entire community," said Whitney Cross, director of development & communications. "This event breaks down barriers of cost and formality, showing both the fun and formal sides of ballet."

Highlights include new works by rehearsal directors DaYoung Jung and Benjamin Tucker, an excerpt from Swan Lake and a reprise of Chan Chan by Artistic Director Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye. Guests are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and lawn chairs. In case of bad weather, the event will be rescheduled for September 20.
