New Orleans Saints predicted to reunite big-name free agent with Derek Carr

The New Orleans Saints could use some help at wide receiver and might just look to free agency for help.

There, it would be hard to ignore a name like Hunter Renfrow—both because of his proven ability and his prior links with quarterback Derek Carr.

Renfrow is one of the biggest names left without a team. Naturally, he’s been spotlighted by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox , who predicts that the veteran will sign with the Saints during the regular season:

“Renfrow would be a logical addition for a couple of teams. The New Orleans Saints could look to reunite him with former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, and they lack proven receiver depth behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.”

The lack of action for Renfrow on the open market isn’t all that shocking given the fantastic depth of the position leaguewide right now. But the Saints might change their minds on the current wideout group around Carr if someone like former sixth-rounder A.T. Perry can’t step up in a hurry while the organization hopes to improve on last year’s nine-win record.

If that happens, one would have to think both free agent and team would have an interest. Renfrow is still 28 years old and in 2021 when he was healthy and had Carr getting him the ball in Las Vegas, he caught 103 of 128 targets for 1,038 yards and nine scores.

While Saints fans might not love the list of free agents the Saints just hosted on tryouts , this indeed might be the move—the team will likely give its guys a chance to prove themselves before looking outside to names like Renfrow.
