A cat who had been missing for several years has finally reunited with his human, thanks to his microchip . The feline went missing from his owner’s farm about 11 years ago. However, the kitty was recently reported as a stray. After a quick scan for a microchip, the rescuers safely returned him to his home in Hollywood, South Carolina.

Missing cat Sam finally finds his way back home after several years

Missing cat Sam’s story was heart-touching. The feline had been lost for 11 years, and it took the kitty over a decade to finally find his way back home. Sam originally belonged to Jennifer Ravenel. She had rescued and adopted him after finding him as a tiny kitten near a pasture. The cat quickly warmed up and accepted Ravenel as his human, following her everywhere.

Ravenel told WCBD that Sam was her “lap kitty.” Since they live on a farm, the feline spent most of his time in the barn. However, after a dog was introduced to the little farm in Hollywood, South Carolina, the kitty was left spooked and started spending more and more time at the barn. Unfortunately, one day, he just stopped coming, and Ravenel couldn’t find her beloved furry friend anywhere.

After more than a decade, the cat reunited with his human. Some Good Samaritans brought Sam to the Charleston Animal Society as a stray. After scanning for a microchip , they discovered the feline belonged to someone. The shelter then contacted Ravenel, reporting that her furry companion had been found.

The Hollywood resident had lost all hope and thought she was being pranked when she first received the call. The reunion was a tear-jerking affair for everyone. The video of their reunion went viral, garnering over 2 million views on Instagram. Sam has been settling in now that he is back home, and Ravenel noted he has been doing well overall.
