Speaking with PAPER Magazine for their latest cover story, Carpenter discussed the hard work and dedication she has put into her music career, describing herself as a "freak manifester" who knew at a young age it was her destiny to shine.

“I don't know how to describe it,” Sabrina begins. “When you're a child and you just have a feeling of, I know I'm going to do this someday. I know I'm going to do this for the rest of my life. I know this is the path I need to follow, whatever that means for me, and whatever success that means for me is what I'm destined for."

"I will say I’m a little bit of a freak manifester sometimes,” she explains, “which is a blessing and a curse depending on how you look at it. I always knew deep down that this was something I would do with my life, and I didn't ever really doubt that, even when s*** was hitting the 'ceiling fan,'" Carpenter adds, quoting her "Please Please Please" lyrics. “No pun intended. I don’t think I ever doubted it.”

“I'm so, so lucky that it's happening at a time where I feel most aligned with myself,” Sabrina says. “I feel more myself than I ever have, and that's something I'm really grateful for.”

Carpenter's sixth full-length album, Short n’ Sweet , arrives on August 23. She'll also be heading to a city near you in the coming months on her 29-date headlining North American tour which kicks off in Columbus, OH on September 23, making stops all across the US and Canada before closing out the run on November 15 in Los Angeles.

Of course, before all of that excitement gets going, fans will get a chance to see Carpenter perform live during the 2024 MTV VMAs scheduled for September 11 along with Chappell Roan , Camila Cabello , GloRilla , and Rauw Alejandro .
