Year in and year out, the expectations in Columbus, Ohio do not change around the football team. Those two expectations for Ohio State are to beat Michigan and compete to win a National Championship.

The last few years, the Buckeyes haven’t done either and the one that stands out is three straight losses to Michigan. Ohio State has to bounce back in a big way in 2024 and the pressure is on them to do so. With the offseason they had, the pressure may be greater than ever.

Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer knows a thing or two about winning it all and having a good team. Meyer didn’t hold back on saying this is the best college football roster that he has seen in the last decade at least.

"I talked to Jim Tressel about this. I've read about them (and) I've watched them," Meyer explained on his new show with Mark Ingram called The Triple Option. "This might be the best roster in college football in the last decade, as far as NFL talent, as far as depth. You've got the second-string running back, whoever it is going to be, probably a first-round draft pick. I mean … they are loaded."

The Buckeyes were able to get a ton of players to return that very well could have gone off to the NFL and that was their first big step. Having players like Emeka Egbuka, TreVeyon Henderson, Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau, Denzel Burke, Lathan Ransom, and Tyleik Willams back for another season was a huge win for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State went out and added the top transfer running back from Ole Miss Quinshon Judkins and got their starting quarterback Will Howard from Kansas State. Caleb Downs is the top safety in the country from Alabama and Former Crimson Tide center Seth McGlaughin is going to start at center. Ohio tight end Will Kacmarek is going to have a role as well.

Day is no longer calling plays and instead brought in proven college play caller Chip Kelly to take over the role. Now, Day is in more of a CEO type of role managing everything from a broader view, but still the head coach.

If Ohio State doesn’t beat Michigan or make a run in the College Football Playoff it could be very bad for Day and his future in Columbus. The pressure is that big.
