Fans Worried Over Latest Sabrina Ionescu Development

The New York Liberty put their league-best 24-4 record to the test on Thursday against a struggling Dallas Wings side that has won just six out of the 27 games they've played this season.

Amid being the favorites to come out of this matchup with a win, the Liberty faced a significant development on the Sabrina Ionescu front just before tip-off. The three-time All-Star has been dealing with a neck injury of late, which had her listed as questionable heading into Thursday's game.

Ultimately, New York opted to err on the side of caution by ruling her out roughly an hour before the game started. This will now be Ionescu's second straight contest on the sidelines after also missing Tuesday's 84-74 blowout win against Dallas.

It goes without saying that this is an unwanted development for the Liberty with the postseason approaching. True enough, some fans could not help but get a little bit worried about Ionescu's lingering injury.

The Liberty have not provided further details about Ionescu's somewhat mysterious injury, but the fact that she's now missed two in a row could be a real cause for concern.

Then again, New York may have made the decision to have her sit out, considering their opponents over the last two contests (both the Wings). It becomes an entirely different story, however, if she ends up missing Saturday's contest against the second-seed Connecticut Sun.
