John Gotti III, who is the grandson of the former American criminal mastermind, has come out to announce his desire to fight Jake Paul. But first, he is scheduled to box Floyd Mayweather again in an exhibition match on the 24th of this month at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City. Nevertheless, having announced the next fight, Gotti still dwells on prospects, stressing that he prefers competitive rather than shows’ fights.

He pointed out that Mayweather will be a special case in the exhibition match since Mayweather is a Hall of Famer and a former five-division world champion.

John Gotti also dwelled on the possibility of facing Jake Paul and welcomed him for shifting from exhibitionist karate matches to actual professional ones thus comprising his portion of the boxing circle. Although it is not clear whether Gotti intended to push the envelope or use a catchweight in case a battle with Paul materializes, he floated a 190-pound catchweight limit.

John Gotti has been honing his skills in the ring for over 10 years, having made his amateur debut at the age of 21. Reflecting on his athletic background, Gotti shared,

I was always an athlete my whole life. I was always an athlete my whole life, he told us. I was big on football, boxed as a kid, and played baseball. I was always boxing, fighting at home, active and throwing hands.

His passion and commitment to the sport have been seen through his boxing career not to mention the pressure of having the very notorious ‘Gotti’ name.

Growing up as the grandson of John Gotti – who used to be head of the Gambino crime family in New York – has not been an easy walk in the park. The young Gotti III made the revelation that opponents and partners in the exercising sessions tend to get inspired and push harder when facing him most probably due to the name.
