Two suspects arrested in June and extradited back to the state following an alleged assault which occurred in Olney in May, were indicted in July on those charges.

Patrick Rater, 32, and Summer Krick, 22, both of Olney, have remained in the Young County Jail since being arrested Saturday, June 8 on the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The two were indicted by a Young County grand jury in July.

Krick’s indictment states she caused bodily injury to the victim by stabbing them and exhibiting a knife-like object during the assault. Rater’s indictment states he did cause bodily injury to the victim by accompanying Krick to the victim’s residence, luring the victim out of the house, watching Krick assault the victim, not rendering aid and fleeing the scene with Krick.

According to a probable cause affidavit, an Olney Police Department officer was dispatched to a disturbance call at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 15 regarding a woman who had endured a stab wound and needed assistance.

The victim was transported to Olney Hamilton Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

In her interview about the incident, she explained Rater had contacted her via text message using an unidentified number. He asked to be allowed into the house to retrieve personal belongings.

Rater stated another woman, Krick, who the victim claims was involved with Rater, would not be with him when he arrived. He alleged Krick accused him of trying to reconcile with the victim.

According to a statement written by the victim, Rater arrived at her house at approximately 11 p.m.

Shortly after Rater arrived, Krick allegedly attempted to enter the residence through the back door, according to probable cause affidavits. Rater left from the front entrance, walked around the house and met Krick.

The victim asked her son to contact the police before opening the backdoor to tell the couple to leave.

“In the video, it appears that (Patrick) Rater is trying to lure (the victim) back off the porch when Krick runs around the corner and physically attacks (the victim) while (Patrick) Rater watches,” one of the affidavits states.

According to one of the affidavits, surveillance footage shows Krick holding something resembling a knife or boxcutter-type object, and shows the couple fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived.

The victim sustained a 1.5-inch laceration to the mid-back, a one-inch laceration to her right thumb and minor cuts on her left forearm.

Warrants were issued for Rater and Krick who fled to Hempstead County, Arkansas. They were arrested two days after the attack and later extradited to the Young County Jail.
