The United States Secret Service is placing some agents on leave as an investigation continues into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler last month.

According to CBS News , “the Secret Service has placed multiple agents on leave.”

Among those agents is the head of the agency’s Pittsburgh field office.

Security measures taken that day have been under fire after 20-year-old shooter Thomas Crooks was able to get shots off, hitting Trump in the ear, killing a retired fire fighter and wounding two others during a rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds.

A spokesperson would not confirm the leave but said they continue to review incident.

“We are examining the processes, procedures and factors that led to this operational failure,” said spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi.
