Cause of death for 19-year-old man found in well remains unknown, ME's Office says

UPDATE (8/23/24) — According to the Medical Examiner's report, the cause of Trey Glass' death is unknown following his body being found in a well this past April.

The report came back inconclusive due to his remains being found months after he was reported missing.

The report said months before Glass' body was found, he had been seen near the well. He was seen consuming beer and seemed intoxicated at that time, but toxicology reports weren't able to determine if anything was in Glass' system when he died.

The report also claimed no lethal trauma was evident when examining his body.

KANSAS, Okla. — The family of a 19-year-old who's been missing for months said the FBI reached out to them after law enforcement found a body in a well on Friday.

Those remains have not been identified yet.

Some family members think the body is 19-year-old Trey Glass , who’s been missing since December. But Glass’ sister is still holding out hope he is alive.

Friday evening, Cherokee Nation Marshals said they pulled a decomposed body from a 20-foot well in Kansas, Oklahoma, about an hour east of Tulsa.

"About 9 o’clock that night I was called and told there was cops all over Wilkerson’s Ranch. From where I live I could actually see them, and there was a helicopter that left out of there,” said Emma Sanders, Glass’ cousin.

Emma and the family know the area well. They themselves searched there for Glass at least eight times since he disappeared in December.

"Actually, they sonared that well and didn't see nothing. So, later on we went back again as family, we went back to the back side of that area and worked our way up, still nothing,” Emma said.

This has been hard on them.

"You know I want closure for them, this has been tough, and we deserve closure, you know, if it is him and I hope yes and I hope no,” Emma said.

Right now, no one knows if the body is Glass or not. Federal agents airlifted the remains to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

“I’m hoping that it's not my brother and I’m hoping that whoever it is, they get ID’d,” Glass’ sister, Keishia Mouse said.

No matter who it is, it’s a tragic loss.

The family has been searching for Glass for months .

“To me it was always a feeling that, I’d drive that road where they found his phone and where everything supposedly happened, I always just felt, there’s, I don’t know know, something just don’t feel right right here. Just a gut feeling, I don't know, a Native feeling or whatever you want to call it,” Glass’ cousin, Creighton Sanders said.

The family said they've been in contact with FBI agents as they wait on the results from the Medical Examiner.

Glass’ sister said she's still holding out hope.

“In the back of my mind I was thinking like, ‘Nah, that’s not him. That’s not him man, it’s like my gut don’t tell me,” Mouse said.

We’ve reached out to the FBI, the Delaware County Sheriffs Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office, but have not heard back yet.

The family said they expect results from the Medical Examiner in the next two days.
