College football has entered a new era. A 12-team playoff format has replaced the four-team College Football Playoff.

How the playoffs will work: the Power Four conference champions will receive automatic bids, and the highest-ranked Group of Five teams will also receive an automatic bid. Also, the four highest-ranked conference champions will have the top four seeds in the playoff.

On Saturday's "College GameDay," Kirk Herbstreit, a long-time ESPN analyst, shared his predictions for this season's playoff. Herbstreit picked the Georgia Bulldogs as the SEC champion, the Ohio State Buckeyes as the Big Ten champion, the Clemson Tigers as the ACC champion, and the Utah Utes as the Big 12 champion. Additionally, Herbstreit chose the Boise State Broncos to represent the Group of Five.

Here is how Herbstreit had it seeded:

    1. Georgia Bulldogs
    2. Ohio State Buckeyes
    3. Clemson Tigers
    4. Utah Utes
    5. Oregon Ducks
    6. Texas Longhorns
    7. Missouri Tigers
    8. Penn State Nittany Lions
    9. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
    10. Florida State Seminoles
    11. Michigan Wolverines
    12. Boise State Broncos

Herbstreit has the Ole Miss Rebels and the Oklahoma State Cowboys as his two teams that just missed the playoff. That would mean Oregon, Texas, Missouri and Penn State hosting playoff games.

Now it's time to witness the games unfold and see if Herbstreit's prediction comes true.
