PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A free pop-up clinic is in Philly this weekend.

The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office and Remote Area Medical have set up shop at the Mariana Bracetti Academy Charter School on Torresdale Avenue, offering overall health, vision and dental services to anyone in need, no questions asked. The services are available Saturday and Sunday starting at 6 a.m.

Remote Area Medical says those looking to drop by should be prepared with their own food, water, medicines and clothing. No insurance is necessary.

Sheriff Rochelle Bilal says services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so “don't roll up like you got an appointment at three o’clock and there's no space for you. We don't want you upset, so the early bird gets the worm.”

Bilal noted that this event is about more than just health care, it’s about compassion, unity, and the well-being of every resident.

“You get checked out to make sure you're okay, to make sure you know if there's any warning signs you want to know in advance so you can get it taken care of right then,” Bilal said.

This is the second year the two organizations have paired up to serve the community with free medical care. The first was at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. It had a good turnout, but they wanted to bring it to the community.

Bilal says there will be resource tables and lots of give-away items.
