The New Orleans Saints lost their preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans, so why did it seem so exciting?

There was a 106-yard return that amounted to nothing but a fun memory. There were multiple TD drives by a rookie and a Louisiana kid plowing into the end zone multiple times. There was a young DB who must be catching the eyes of the coaching staff. Oh, and some rough punting performance.

With all that in mind, scroll below for some of the Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert's top takes from the game. Hear the Cannon's full rant in the player above. Can't see the embed? Click here .

    Spencer Rattler's good day

“You know who had something to write home about? The Rattler. Spencer Rattler. He had that one drive, I’ll tell you what, 9 plays, 70 yards, 4:22, that pass to St. Brown, the 21-yarder, I told you, I said, that is a beautiful pass. Now, you showed me somebody tweeted [Derek Carr could never make that throw] … no, he could make that throw. Listen, if you’re an NFL starter, I would expect Spencer Rattler to make that throw. I would expect every quarterback, that’s dropping a dime. No, that’s what you have to do. So that was a beautiful pass to St. Brown for 21 yards. Spencer Rattler ended up with 118 total yardage, quarterback rating of 106."

    Jacob Kibodi shows out

“Taking advantage of the opportunity. I thought Ragin Cajun, Kibodi, I think — well, he’s on the practice squad and, you know, that means you get paid and you can develop, so he took advantage of his opportunity this game. If you look at it, he had 59 yards on his 12 carries. … He had a long gain of 14 and a couple of touchdowns."

    Rough punts

“Our punters were terrible today. Does anyone want to win the job? If I look at Hayball or Lou Hedley, the veteran, now you can’t look at … you had, I think, the net we were low 30s, that’s terrible. … If you want to be amongst the best, and I know this will drive the special teams coaches crazy, you want to be amongst the best in the league, how about you have the net about 42, about 10 yards more. Hayball averaged 48 yards a punt, Hedley 45 yards. No, we have to look at the net, you know why, because look at the return.”

    How long is Penning's leash

“Penning has gotten better. He’s competing. But now the bullets are gonna fly for real come Week 1 against Carolina. I mean, you’ve got to have a short leash. No, he’s getting whooped, so when I look at all that — now, the coaches know because they grade everything. They film everything in practice and all the games, but there was no one, they would wish like."

    A dark horse DB

“The new version, the poor man Isaac Yiadom is Rico Payton … from Pittsburgh State. I’ll tell you what, that dude is for sure on the practice squad. He should on somebody’s practice squad for sure. He’s taken advantage of every opportunity that he had. They even sent him to rush the passer and got a sack today. He’s the only one with an individual sack, Rico Payton. He had two unassisted tackles and he led the team with passes defended this preseason. He had five, and guess what, he had a special teams tackle. ... “I’d say, who really got the coaches’ attention? I would say Rico Payton.”
