You may have this recalled Peanut Butter sitting in your pantry

    2024-08-26

Peanut butter is an american staple. From the PBJ to a freshly baked cookie to the filling inside your chocolate cup, the sticky sweet spread is used for a lot of things. In addition, it's a great pantry staple because of it's shelf stability - a jar of peanut butter that's opened can last for up to three months, with an unopened jar lasting as long as three times as long. Because of this long shelf life, it's possible that you may have this recalled peanut butter sitting at home in your pantry right now.

The peanut butter in question was recalled by Jif back on May 20, 2022. It was discovered that an equipment issue possibly allowed water to enter the production environment of the peanut butter during the manufacturing process. This water could have introduced bacteria to the affected products. Out of an abundance of caution, Jif decided to recall the potentially affected products. The affected peanut butters are those with the first seven digits of the product code in the range 1274425 – 2140425 and the last three digits of the product code 425. The product code can be found on the back of the jar underneath the UPC area. It's important to note that the UPC and the product code are NOT the same thing. If you still have a jar of the affected peanut butter, you can contact Jif for a replacement here
