“It Better Not Be On Christmas!” — Lainey Wilson Has A Few Parameters For Her Ideal Proposal & I Couldn’t Agree More

Honestly, I typically hate getting into the personal lives of artists, but this was too important to pass up. Lainey Wilson released her new album Whirlwind on Friday, and it's easily her most impressive, and truly "Lainey" album yet. I love the unique sound and depth on the 14-song tracklist, and she included several love songs that were
inspired by her boyfriend , Devlin "Duck" Hodges. Lainey and the former NFL quarterback made their debut as a couple at the 2023 ACM Awards, though I think they were together for a couple years before they ever went public with the relationship. While tunes like "Counting Chickens" and "4X4XU" are sweet and show off a different side of Lainey than we've ever heard in her music before, there's one song in particular that I've had on repeat that's the opposite of mushy gushy called "Ring Finger." And of course, with a title like that and the fact that Lainey is seemingly so in love with Duck, and has been for a while, I've seen more than few comments online wondering if a ring is in Lainey's near(ish) future. Another thing I hate is asking people questions like "When are you getting married?" when it's none of your business, so I guess I'm a a huge hypocrite for writing this post in the first place, but Lainey seemed to take it well and she did kind of bring up the topic of love more than once on the record, so it's kind of fair game in that sense. With all that said, she did an interview with radio hosts Big D and Bubba a couple days ago, where they asked her if she might be getting a ring for Christmas... And she had a quick response, saying that "it better not be" on Christmas, and I couldn't agree more. I think most women are on the same page about the fact that no one wants to get engaged on a holiday or birthday, because you want a completely, separate, special day of your own for that big moment that doesn't have to be part of anything else year after year. In case that isn't commonly known to men around the world, unless she explicitly states an exception, don't ever propose on a holiday, birthday, or any other day along those lines. Lainey specifically called out Duck in her answer too, so if he happens to somehow see this, you're welcome, Duck:
"A ring? It better not be on Christmas! You hear that Duck?  We're gonna space it out, you know what I'm saying? I want a Christmas present and then..." She also added that, if it did happen that way, she'd say "hell yeah," which goes to show how truly in love she is. All that extra stuff really doesn't matter that much, and she said that she was "gonna propose to him," though that was obviously a joke: "Well, I hope he's listening. Don't propose on a birthday... if it happened, I'd be like, 'Hell yeah!' You know? I actually was gonna propose to him. No, I'd never do that." It sounds like Lainey's more than ready to say "yes" to Duck regardless of the circumstances, and I couldn't love that more for her. I think she's found a "keeper" and someone who respects and supports her as much as she deserves, which is hard to come by, especially for someone in her position. I mean, they really are a precious couple: https://www.instagram.com/p/C9IsJx9vsZq/ Here's the clip from the interview: https://youtu.be/NDy9Jo5ZViE?t=753 And I know it's the opposite of what she said in the interview, but I can't get enough of this one...

You shouldn't have to propose, if he hasn't mentioned or attempted then move on.
