Didn't even make it past the first song before folks in the crowd started acting up. Something must have been in the air over the weekend, making concertgoers extra rowdy and unhinged. Scrolling through social media and seeing this after the extensive number of beer cans thrown at Treaty Oak Revival and Koe Wetzel is wild. On Saturday night in Pueblo, CO, Scotty McCreery took the stage at the Colorado State Fair. He had to stop the band and call out a crowd member for their unruly actions without even having one entire song on his set. While it's not uncommon for artists to call out rude or too rowdy fans at shows (ex: Billy Strings shaming crowd members that were fighting by saying they have a "small pecker"), artists do take it very personally when these crowd members affect the safety of other attendees. Scotty McCreery had his eyes peeled during the first moments of his set, catching the actions of one fan harming another. The worst part: a man hit a woman in the crowd. McCreery wasn't even through the first line of "It Matters to Her" before shutting everything down and addressing the situation.
"When you say I love you, b efore you hang up....hey hey, hey. That's a lady you just hit, sir!" McCreery cuts the band off and points in the direction of the crowd where he witnessed a woman get struck. "Absolutely not; who just hit the lady? Get - police, security. Is she okay? Get the heck out of here. Oh, he's ducking... On God's green Earth...at a Scotty McCreery show. What are you doing?" McCreery remains calm and keeps calling out the man who struck the woman while waiting for the police to get there and remove him from the crowd. However, at this point, those around him had picked out who the culprit was and began to heckle him and were making dang sure that he was not getting away before the police and security guards could get to him.
"Y'all let the cop know who he the lady because that is absolutely unacceptable... Whoever you are, that is the definition of a coward. Hitting a lady, get the heck out of here. If we're all set, let's get right on back to the show." Many fans in the comments commended McCreery for handling the situation calmly, coolly, and collected, not cussing up a storm or yelling at the man. Like Billy Strings, taking the stoic demeanor hits the culprit with loads of shame for their actions. Being called out in that manner is way more of a hit to the ego than being called a handful of choice words. However, one woman near the concertgoer who caught the incident on film got the award for best response because she yelled out: "I'd punch the mother****er right back." Yeah, she's a legend for that. Is it really that hard to keep your hands to yourself during a concert? I'm not sure when throwing things, hitting people, and starting fights during concerts have become such a popular trend, but it's not one that we are signing off on. Can we all go back to enjoying a few beers and singing along to songs with those around you? Shoutout to Scotty McCreery for spotting this and shutting it down quickly and effectively.

Does anyone know what led to her getting hit? I’ve asked and people just get all offended.
