Despite Jerry Jones Stance, Should Cowboys Trade For Eagles' All-Pro Cornerback?

DALLAS - On Saturday, the Dallas Cowboys announced that they would be without the services of All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland leaving a big hole in the Cowboys secondary.

All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs is coming off of ACL surgery and the Cowboys can’t be sure of what they will get from him in his first season back. Cornerback is suddenly a position of weakness for the Cowboys.

In Philadelphia, beleaguered Eagles cornerback James Bradberry has been the subject of trade rumors the entire offseason. He asked to be moved to safety, but could miss out on that spot also as Avonte Maddox has played well.

Could the Eagles and Cowboys work out a trade deal, or could the Dallas just wait it out and see if he gets cut? The problem with the last option is, he can choose where he wants to go.

Though Bland is only out 6-8 weeks, trading for Bradberry makes sure that he is a Cowboy this year. Jerry Jones did say that the Cowboys were not in the market for a corner and that they would not be going after one.

"Not at all, not in any way," Jones said. "The good news is that we have some guys that have played well in camp. We won't be looking at all."

While Bradberry didn’t play well last year, he was named second-team All-Pro in 2022, so it would definitely be worth the phone call on both sides.

Or at least we would think.
