Former NBA star John Salley has stepped up to defend Bronny James, the eldest son of LeBron James, amid increasing criticism.

In a candid discussion, Salley addressed the pressure and scrutiny Bronny faces as the son of one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He emphasized that such intense public attention is unfair to the young athlete, who is still carving out his own path in the sport.

Salley pointed out the unique challenges that come with being the child of a superstar, noting that the expectations placed on Bronny are unlike anything most people can understand.

“Listen, if my dad had the power, if my dad was the leading scorer, if my dad was able to take a pay cut so I could get a check, it’s like no other business," Salley said, as reported by TMZ.

In addition to sending flowers to Bronny, the ex-player subtly elevated the NBA All-Time scorer's status. This sentiment was echoed when Salley was questioned about whether LeBron should remain in the league long enough to not only play with Bronny but also with his younger son, Bryce.

“Listen to me, Bron. Don’t ever quit, bro!” Salley said.

At 17, Bryce James has not yet made his college debut. When he becomes eligible for the NBA Draft, LeBron will be nearing 41-42 years old.

It remains uncertain if LeBron will have the opportunity to play alongside Bryce. Nonetheless, LeBron's recent two-year contract extension ensures that he will continue to play with Bronny in the near future.

Salley's comments reflect a broader sentiment of support and understanding for Bronny, as he continues to grow and face the unique pressures of following in his father's footsteps.
