Is Bills' Receiver Position Most 'Interesting' in Roster Cuts?

    By Adam Schultz,

We are now entering perhaps the toughest part of an NFL season with roster cuts being made all over the league and the Buffalo Bills have already began to trim their roster.

Seven players have already been released, with more on the way, but with the Bills having a log jam at receiver, there could be some hard-luck stories over the next couple of days.

For former Bills center Eric Wood, what happens at the receiver position intrigues him.

“If the Bills are going to keep just five receivers again, who's going to be that fifth receiver," Wood said on One Bills Live . "Will it be Valdes-Scantling, will it be [Tyrell] Shavers and there's [Andy] Isabella, it's going to be interesting to see how all that shakes out.”

With the Bills having a receiver-by-committee under Joe Brady in 2024, a host of players are fighting for a select few roster spots.

Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, KJ Hamler, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are the top five, and as Wood states, Shavers, Isabella, and even Justin Shorter all have claims to a roster spot.

But there aren't enough spots to accommodate everyone, which means some tough decisions will have to be made over the next couple of days.

What might make it a little easier is that Buffalo's tight ends, Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid, can be thought of as receivers as well, considering how many receptions the pair had between them last season.

But how the depth chart shakes out is going to be interesting and if the Bills do choose to go with just five receivers, who will make up that room is up for debate.

Luckily, we don't have long to wait before we find out.
