New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has a history of never chastising players both on or off his team.

That doesn't mean he isn't above sending a message when he needs to.

As Haason Reddick's holdout from the Jets extends to the longest in franchise history, New York has pushed a "business as usual" approach without the Pro Bowl defender in practice, but that doesn't mean they aren't excited to eventually have him on the roster.

Even if that means getting up to speed quickly.

"I'm assuming he's in phenomenal shape," Saleh said of Reddick and his chances of being ready for Week 1. "Like I said, he's a veteran. He knows what he needs to get ready. He's had success in multiple buildings and multiple schemes with multiple coaching staffs, so he's going to know what he needs to do to be ready for Week One, so he still has plenty of time."

New York's head coach has always focused on the positive side of his players. He had a separate message as the pass rusher continued to hold out from the team in hopes of securing a new contract.

While the Jets' edge rushers remain on the younger side overall, the organization feels they are good enough to win.

It's why Saleh has one message to Reddick - no one will go out of their way to try and bring him over.

"I've just been focusing on the guys that have been here."
